The Maritime Museum

The Maritime Museum of Chios is housed in a traditional mansion owned by the couple of Anastasios and Marouko Patera. This 19th century building was donated in 1991. The large maritime history of the island should be illustrated and this museum was a dream come true. The collections of the exhibits are remarkable. Portraits of sailing ships and steam boats, photographs and models of ships from the naval life and navigation equipment complete the impressive collection. In the courtyard of the museum there is a monument dedicated to the lost sailors of the island.
