Afrodisia is a small amphitheatrically built village in a location with lots of trees and springs. It was named after Venus, goddess of love and beauty, and rumour has it that the temple of the goddess is buried beneath the church of St. Mammas. Apart from the church it is worth seeing the Memorial to the Fallen, the old spring and the old school. The feast day of Afrodisia is on September 2nd when St. Mammas is celebrated. Also, the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is celebrated on September 14th.
