Vessa

Vessa, a picturesque medieval castle-village with traditional architecture, is situated in a valley in southern Chios. The village square is particularly special with a rising tower in the center. The churches of Vessa are St. Demetrios and the Assumption of Virgin Mary. The villagers' main occupation is the systematic cultivation of the fragrant mastic. The village celebrates on August 15th.
