Village

Sidirounta

Sidirounta is a medieval village built on a hill and consists of stone houses and narrow streets. It was probably named after the iron stones used for building houses. It is worth visiting the church of St. George in the middle of the village and enjoy the magnificent views of the Aegean and the surrounding coasts. South of the village lies a recently renovated Vigla in an area called Pahy. There are many beaches with turquoise waters nearby such as Prastia, Tigani, Makria Ammos and Gerita. The local celebration day is on August 29th.
