Pityos is a village of medieval characteristics and owes its name to the pine trees (Pitis) that abound in the area. The main feature of the village is the recently restored medieval tower at the top of the hill. The post-Byzantine church of St Demetrios is located next to the impressive tower. The village square is comprised of stone and the traditional stone houses and narrow streets with arches make Pityos a special place. The old elementary school and the Memorial of the inhabitants of Pityos are attractions worth seeing. The churches of the village are a lot and they're of great interest. Panagia Faneromeni, St. George, St. Paraskevi and St. Isidoros are a few of them. Great festivals take place on August 14th and 15th and many people visit this picturesque village.
