Fyta is a mountainous village, situated at an altitude of 480 metres. It is the second highest village of Chios right after the village of Spartounda and is included in the villages of Mt. Pelinnaion, the highest mountain of the island. Fyta (which means plants) is surrounded by abundant vegetation. There are plenty of plants and rich spring waters in this village. In the past, the springs of the village could move eight mills. A very cool spring known until today is the "Nero tou Aggelou" which means the "Angel's water" that sprouts from a huge plane tree. Local people are engaged in beekeeping, crops and livestock. The local celebration day is on July 17th.
